b'MESSAGEOn a winter evening in 1902, the first Franklin University students walked into drafty high-ceilinged classrooms in the YMCA building in downtown Columbus to study accounting, FROM THEbusiness law, and other practical subjects. Who were they? They were working adult students going to night school, looking to get ahead in their careers by increasing their PRESIDENTknowledge and improving their skills.Fast forward 12 decades, to March 2022, and the technology, topics and teaching methods are all different, but Franklins basic concept is still the same: a University of Opportunity, open to all and providing a chance for advancement to anyone who is willing to take the work seriously and respect the opportunity that education provides to hard-working and ambitious people. To put degrees within practical reach for students, we collaborate with community and technical colleges, global partners and employers, eliminating administrative impediments and easing the path forward. And we work with all kinds of innovative education providers like Coursera, MedCerts and Acadeum to help us meet student demand for shorter and skill-specific learning options. Our dedicated Board of Trustees, along with hundreds of community and business leaders who serve on program advisory boards, volunteer their time and talent to help us stay on the cutting edge of professional education. As a professionally oriented university, we work hard to ensure that our curriculum, program offerings and program outcomes align with the expectations of employers and the professions we serve, while our 50,000 alumnibuild the Universitys reputation by working in their communities to help others realize their full potential. As you read these pages I hope youll feel the same pride that I do in Franklin Universityand the noble part it plays in serving our students, our alumni, our society and our country.Best regards, Dr. David R.
